What To Do When You Visit Sunset View Cottage

No visit to Mount Desert would be complete without a visit to
Acadia National Park. Whether you go off-island to visit the Schoodic Peninsula, visit an outlying island, hike or bike on a carriage trail or hiking trail in the mountains (some on the Quiet Side of the Island) or along the shore (Sea Wall, Wonderland and the Ship's Harbor Trail are minutes away from Sunset View), drive the Park Loop Road, try the water at Sand Beach or Echo Lake, rent a canoe or kayak, find a rock to watch the tides come in and go out, or visit the top of Cadillac Mountain, Acadia National Park is a treasure to explore.
Bar Harbor, a wonderful collection of shops, restaurants, a working harbor and a place visited by cruise ships, is a short drive across the island. Should you find fog on Duck Cove and tire of the games, puzzles, books and the experience of the Island in the fog, go to Bar Harbor, where it may be clear. At low tide, you can walk to Bar Island.

As you will be staying on the Island's Quiet Side, taking the time to explore and savor it makes sense. There are places to hike, trails to follow, shops, restaurants and entertainment.
Spread over the Island, The Mount Desert Oceanarium is fun for all ages. Buy a multi-site pass and spend some time learning about the waters around the Island. There are three golf courses on the Island.
Explore the cove, do a puzzle, play a game, watch the sun set: there is always something fun to do at Sunset View Cottage!
